Chapter 16

Jack, desperate for meaningful companionship in the midst of a loveless relationship, unrequited longing for Jenny, and a soul-crushing job, finally begins listening to the voice inside of his head, SB. Finally given the opportunity to be heard, SB chastises Jack for trite and hollow man he has become.

lyrics

Wake up!
Yeah, insomnia's got nothing on me.
I'm the bastard child of logic and insanity.
I'm your self-esteem, I am the wall.
I stole the glue that holds you in
Yeah I stole, I stole it all.

Shy away and cower when someone crosses your path
You're two feet tall and now you're shrinking fast
I didn't recognize you with all those footprints on your face
You've swallowed your pride now it's gone without a trace.

See your standing with that blue sun dress.
And you cry and moan but you love the lonliness.
Forget all that - 'cause I've got something else in mind.
You've been the nice guy and now you're just getting tired.

Well, you're looking for salvation and you set your gaze on me.
I'm not the guy you want, I just play him on TV.
"If not you, who will show us love, life, and bliss?"
It's America baby - money buys happiness.
